Eyes Wide Open

Navigating Modern Media

Have you noticed that nobody seems to agree on the basic facts about current events anymore? Everybody is sure their sources of information are reliable. But the discrepancies between two sources’ accounts of the same event can be so glaring, it’s like they didn’t occur in the same country. So how do you tell the difference between fact, honest opinion, and downright manipulation?

This 8-module series will teach you how to

figure that out and build peace instead of

polarization. We dig into bias and balance; logical fallacies; how to verify information, polarization and propaganda; the importance of nuance; what's driving slanted stories; evaluating conspiracy claim; and using media to build peace. All this from the perspective of a veteran journalist, turned activist, turned peace-builder.

For a little extra fun and memorability, we throw in a sneak peak at a musical-in-the-making, based on the course content.
